Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has announced his retirement from the ufabet club after his contract with the club expired.
The Denmark international is set to move to Barcelona after being at Stamford Bridge since 2012, but he admits it was a difficult decision. But I felt it was time to go out and find a new challenge.
“I had a difficult decision at the age of 16 when I left Denmark,” Christensen said. Coming here they made me feel at home. I am grateful to Jim Fraser and Neil Bath for embracing me as part of the family.
“The proudest moment with the club was when we won the FA Youth Cup and the UEFA Youth League.
“I’ve been fortunate to play with some amazing managers including Conte, Mourinho and Thomas Tuchel, last year was the accomplishment I was most proud of as a footballer when we lifted the trophy. Champions League at Porto”
“I was a young boy at Chelsea with the hopes and fears of a player starting his career. I am deeply grateful to the club for making my dreams come true.”
“After 10 years Anya is intrigued by this club. I feel that now is the right time for a fresh start for me and my family. The mental state of the past few months has been difficult because the decision to leave this club and the supporters has not been easy.
“I’m not a talkative person. So sometimes people don’t understand how much the club and the fans mean to me. I will miss the players, staff and everyone here. I wish the club and the supporters all the success in the future.”
